Most of these schools were education seminars in the teacher’s house, which was volunteer for free to teach children and adults the Holy Qur’an until people gave him the title of “Al -Mutawa”, meaning the volunteer for education, and some volunteer teachers “Al -Mutawa” were providing educational lessons in seminars presented in mosques, and with The prosperity of the economic and cultural situation in Bahrain. Some merchants began to contribute to supporting education and supporting volunteer teachers, by stopping buildings on education or donating it. To be suspended schools as a private endowment, and those schools were more organized, where volunteer teachers teach in these schools and organize the educational levels of the school, and diversify the study materials taught, as these schools were used as a headquarters for the collection of scholars and volunteer teachers to discuss some scientific issues in their field of competence , And the fatwa sometimes, and discussing the reality of education at the time, the problems and challenges that meet them And ways to treat it. Most of these schools were buildings that were stopped or donated by merchants and philanthropists in favor of education.
Private schools were a nucleus of modern formal education that contributed to paving the way for the establishment of regular schools later. Among these schools: Sheikh Rashid bin Isa School, which was established in 1829, the Mohammed bin Hassan Al Khater School, which was established in 1853, and the Hajji bin Ahmed Al Zayani School, which was established In 1883, Saida Bint Bishr School in 1887, Hussein bin Salman bin Matar School, which was established in 1911 in Muharraq, and a school Ali bin Ibrahim Al -Zayani, which was established as a charitable private school in 1912, that is, seven years before the opening of regular education schools, at the expense of Al -Mohsen Ali bin Ibrahim Al -Zayani, the undersecretary of the Ottoman Empire at the time, where the construction expense and the alimony of everything related to teaching bear the provision of logistical needs for students such as providing water And the panels on which they write and others. We can say that private schools that were based on volunteering, charitable endowment and charitable donations by members of society in Bahrain to spread education before the establishment of the government educational system, paved the way for the establishment of the government educational system in Bahrain.
