Delmon, which is located in the current Kingdom of Bahrain, was an important center for technological innovation during the Bronze Age, especially from about 2000 BC. Its strategic location between Mesopotamia and the Arabian Sea facilitated trade and cultural exchange, which contributed to the technological progress that played a decisive role in its attendance.
One of the main technological innovations in Dilmun was the introduction of seal technology. Initially, I used the city
Bay seals, which were affected by the civilization of Wadi Al -Sind. These seals, made of black or transparent green stone, contained a circular head and inscriptions in the Sindhi language. Over time, these seals evolved, as they turned from writing to symbolism, including symbols like the famous bull. These transformations reflected the urban and administrative developments. Seals have become a vital part of administrative and commercial jobs, as they were used to define, trade and communicate with power and royal authority.
In addition to the seals technology, Dilmun adopted and adapted to various administrative and economic technologies. One of the important transformations was the use of uniform weights, inspired by the weight of the Cubic and Cuban Sindh Valley. These weights played a central role in regulating trade and taxes, as it is clear from their presence at the city’s gates in Dilmun. The adoption of these weights, which became known as the “Dilmun base”, had an effect on the neighboring areas, including Babylon.
Another technology innovation was the introduction of the symbolic currency after 2000 BC. These small clay currencies, which carry inscriptions with seals, were probably used for administrative and commercial purposes, such as documenting transactions. The development of these symbols reflects the increase in the complexity of the Dilmun economy and the integration of technologies from neighboring cultures.
Dilmun technological innovations were not limited to administrative tools only. The city’s structure included important engineering achievements, such as building a 1.5 -km city wall, and a central planner street. These developments reflect the increase in the city’s attendance and need for defense and organization.
In short, Dilmun technological development was distinguished by adopting and adapting innovations from neighboring civilizations, including seals, writing, weights, and currencies. These developments played a major role in the city’s economic growth, social classes, and political unification, which promotes Dilmun’s position as a center for trade, culture and innovation in the ancient world.
