Major General Ismail Kamal, Governor of Aswan, chaired the fourth meeting of the Steering Committee for the Drinking Water Management Program (the second stage), in the presence of Andreas Baum, the Swiss ambassador, Eng. Amr Lashin, Deputy Governor, Dr. Andreas Zest, director of the program, in addition to officials of the International Cooperation Office at the Swiss and Governorate embassy, ​​and officials of the holding company For drinking water, and also with the participation of Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities and Communities Urbanism.

During the meeting, Dr. Ismail Kamal affirmed that the governorate, for its part, spared no effort in providing all facilities for joint cooperation projects with the Swiss side, adding to the need to intensify ways and mechanisms of cooperation and use the Swiss experiences to contribute to finding innovative solutions to the groundwater problem in the Karar region with a study of the development of water makers at the two stations of Feryal And Jabal Towq to ensure the achievement of the required quality of drinking water provided to citizens, In addition to continuing technical and material support to continue the implementation of more infrastructure projects to replace and renovate stations, levers, networks and main drinks of drinking water.

The governor also expressed his aspiration for more future joint projects in light of the governorate’s willingness to provide all aspects of support and fruitful cooperation to reflect this friendly and historical relations between the states of Switzerland and Egypt, praising the positive results of the discussions included in the meeting, including solving the drainage problem in the Nasiriyah region east of Aswan through the completion of Operation of Nasiriyah Station with a capacity of 46 thousand m3 at an estimated cost of 300 million pounds, along with a discussion Strategic axes and technical support through training technical cadres to improve the performance levels of the company’s work team with support for the financial and commercial sector, in addition to discussing the executive position of the ongoing work from installing major lines and replacing and renewing the entire drinking water network in the areas of the torrent and the Zaidab Bahrain with a total length of 30 km.
