Palestinian sources said that Israeli tanks penetrated in the northern West Bank Jenin, for the first time since the second intifada, while Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz instructed the army to prepare for a “long stay” in the targeted camps in the West Bank and not to allow the displaced residents to return.

The sources said on Sunday evening that 3 Israeli tanks stormed the city of Jenin, after the bulldozers destroyed the entrance to the western city.

The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said that pushing tanks to the northern West Bank was due to pressure exerted by the political leadership on the army.

At the same time, the Israeli army imposed a curfew in the town of Qabatiya in Jenin Governorate for a period of 48 hours, according to the Palestinian News Agency quoted the governor of Jenin Kamal Abu Al -Rab.

This comes within the framework of the widespread military operations carried out by the Israeli army in the north of the West Bank for the second month in a row, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens of Palestinians, the displacement of tens of thousands, the destruction of homes and a large -scale infrastructure.

The Walaa website quoted security sources as saying that Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz asked the army to discuss the possibility of establishing sites inside the Palestinian camps in the West Bank.

Earlier, the Israeli military spokesman said that the army would expand its operations in the northern West Bank.

He explained that a unit of tanks will work inside Jenin within the framework of the offensive process, for the first time since the “protective wall” process in 2002.

The military spokesman added that the forces of the Nahhal Brigade and the Dovevan Unit began working in villages in the regions of Jenin and Tulkarm.

Occupation and displacement

The Israeli Minister of Defense said that he had issued directives to the army to prepare for a “long stay” in the target camps in the West Bank.

Katz added that he would not allow the Palestinians to return to the camps, nor when terrorism called it to return and grow, noting that the army expands its operation in the northern West Bank, and began working in the town of Qabatiya.

The Israeli minister said that 40,000 Palestinians have so far left the camps of Jenin, Tulkarm and Nour Shams, and that they are now free of population, and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) has stopped.
