The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced the killing of Mohamed Mahsoub Ibrahim Ahmed, known as the “New Upper Egypt”, and seven of the most dangerous “criminal” elements during a security raid targeting and virginity at the Sahel Selim Center in Assiut Governorate.
The Ministry stated in its statement on Monday that the public security sector, in cooperation with the Assiut Security Directorate, was able to locate the “criminal” focus that specialized in bringing narcotic substances, possessing unlicensed weapons and ammunition, and imposing control and intimidating the people.
She pointed out that the formation leader, Mohamed Mahsoub, is wanted in 44 cases that include killing, drugs, coercion theft, and destruction of property, and sentences were sentenced to life imprisonment and periods of 191 years.
Investigations indicated that the defendants were hiding in the mountainous areas, and they frequently hesitated on a building fortified with trenches and barricades in the village of Al -Afra.
During the implementation of the raid, the defendants took fire on the forces using heavy weapons, including RPG shells, automatic rifles, hand grenades, and multi -shot machine guns, and they also blew gas cylinders to prevent the forces from entering the building, which resulted in the injury of a police officer from the Central Security Forces .
The engagement resulted in the killing of all eight elements, and the seizure of a huge arsenal of weapons, such as 73 automatic rifles, Greenov machine guns, eight hand grenades, and a large amount of ammunition and drugs.
