A medical conference warned of the risk of taking antibiotics for viral diseases. Participants expected that drug -resistant diseases would cause about 39 million deaths. The eighth conference to resist antimicrobials and antibiotics, which concluded its activities in Dubai yesterday, recommended the strengthening of the “one health” approach to counter the resistance of antimicrobials, through cooperation between the sectors, and raising the level of awareness of the risks of antimicrobial resistance among workers in the relevant fields. Participants in the conference stressed the importance of raising awareness of the correct use of antibiotics, which will constitute a major challenge that will face health policy makers, as a lack of awareness increases the ability of pathogenic bacteria.
