A pioneering royal vision and continuous government support .. Representative Mamdouh Al -Saleh praises Bahrain’s initiatives in caring for the elderly

Representative Mamdouh Abbas Al -Saleh, a member of the House of Representatives and member of the Arab Parliament, praised the prominent role played by the Kingdom of Bahrain in promoting the rights of the elderly and providing them with full support, during the meeting of the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women and Youth Affairs Committee in the Arab Parliament, which was held in the framework of preparing for the session The third of the first session of the fourth legislative semester, which is scheduled to be held today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo.

In his speech, Al -Saleh reviewed the legislative and governmental initiatives implemented by Bahrain to support the elderly, stressing that the Kingdom has a discreet legal framework that protects the rights of this category and contributes to ensuring their well -being, as national legislation places an end to all forms of discrimination or abuse against them.

Al -Saleh pointed out that the Bahraini parliament is always keen to enhance communication with the elderly, and work to remove all the obstacles that they may face, in the context of comprehensive support for their rights.

Al -Saleh explained that the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, is the basis from which all these leading policies emerge.

He praised the continuous support of the government, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, to enable the elderly in society, considering that these efforts embody the Kingdom’s commitment to social responsibility in the simplest and finest form.

During the meeting, Al -Saleh reviewed a number of initiatives that include providing free health services for the elderly, such as home medical care, facilitating access to urgent health services, in addition to providing discounts on government fees.

The focus has also been on social services that include the role of daytime care and cultural and social activities for the elderly, as well as housing facilities that guarantee them a decent life.

Al -Saleh also mentioned the Kingdom’s continuous endeavor to integrate the elderly into society by involving them into national events.

In the same context, the committee discussed the mechanisms of providing health care in conflict areas, and dealt with ways to support those affected by wars and conflicts, reflecting the joint Arab commitment to provide care for all.
