Born in London, Nick Frost, 52, was working in a restaurant when he met Simon Pegg. The pair appeared in the Channel 4 sitcom Spaced from 1999 to 2001, and went on to make films such as Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Paul, which they co-wrote. Frost wrote, produced and stars in the comedy horror Get Away, which is available on Sky Cinema. He lives with his partner in London and has three children.
When were you happiest?
Now. Five years ago, I started looking after myself a bit more, emotionally and spiritually, and it’s paid dividends.
What is your greatest fear?
Dying when my children are still young. I know how much it hurt me. I was 30 when my mum died and 39 when my dad died, and even then, that was too young.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
I am a massive people-pleaser and it brings me nothing but trouble.
What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Manipulative greed and hate.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
I’ve pooed myself a couple of times.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
I have a wonky ear that sticks out.
What is your most unappealing habit?
Sometimes if I clip off a big toenail, I’ll crunch it in my mouth.

Simon Pegg.
What is the worst thing anyone’s said to you?
I like you but I wish you looked more like David Beckham.
Would you choose fame or anonymity?
I am all right in the middle. I like it when people say hi in Sainsbury’s, but I also like the fact that I can have a meal out.
What was the last lie that you told?
The last question – I’d rather be really, really famous.
What do you owe your parents?
Nothing. I feel as if I did it all myself as I felt fairly abandoned from a young age. So in terms of thanking them – no, not really. I’d probably tell them off, if I’m honest.
To whom would you most like to say sorry, and why?
It would be my mum. She was a terrible alcoholic and I spent a lot of my time kind of hating her but, in the past five years, I realised why she did what she did and I could forgive.

The Mona Lisa – I preferred the frame.
How often do you have sex?
Too much.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Not giving up.

I can’t really have more sex, so let’s say money.

As a nice human being who gave a shit.
What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
Don’t give up.
What happens when we die?
When my kids ask, “What happens when we die?” I say, “Do you remember the place you were in before you were born? I think we go back there.”
