Josh Brolin details strange Donald Trump encounter years ago

Turns out a story involving Josh Brolin, Shia LaBeouf, Oliver Stone, Donald Trump, and his wife Melania is really weird. Who would have thought?

Brolin recalled a moment with the former and future president that still leaves him “wigged out” on a recent episode of In Depth with Graham Bensinger.

Back in 2010, Brolin had dinner with the Trumps, Stone, and LaBeouf at New York City’s 21 Club, where he met and became friends with Trump, though that friendship has not withstood the test of time.

Apparently Trump lent Brolin $20, as Bensinger pointed out when he asked the Dune actor what else stood out from that night.

“You know, there’s a weird f—ing thing that happened, man,” Brolin said. “So we’re in his apartment and he’s telling us where he was standing when he watched the [Twin] Towers go down. And it was…very emotional, and he was emotional about it.”

Trump is showing Brolin and other guests around his apartment when Brolin, a big fan of architecture, asks to see where the magic ostensibly happens.

“And I said, ‘Can I see upstairs?’ I said, ‘What’s upstairs?’ He said, ‘Our bedroom.’ And I said, ‘Can I see upstairs?’ He said, ‘Yeah.’ And then nobody moved. And I said, ‘Cool. So should we go up?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ And then he still didn’t move. And I’m thinking, ‘What the f— is happening?'” Brolin said, likening it to The Twilight Zone.

Everyone’s just hanging out in silence, awaiting a tour of the upstairs that’s clearly not happening, when Brolin looks over at the director of Platoon and simply shrugs. He then looks at LaBeouf, who has no idea what’s going on. So Brolin tries his luck one more time.

“I said, ‘So should we go up?’ I said it a third time, ‘So, should we go upstairs?’ He goes, ‘Sure.’ And he didn’t move. And then there was silence,” the actor recalls. “And I said, ‘Well, thanks for having us here. I really appreciate it.’ He goes, ‘Yeah, no problem.’ And we shook his hand and all that. It was the weirdest f—ing moment. I still get wigged out by it. I don’t know what was happening — I still don’t to this day. It’s like, he couldn’t not say no, but he wasn’t gonna get out of the way of the thing. It meant no, but he said, yes.”
