NAFEST 2019: Ogun Comes First in Drama, Emeges Second Overall Winner

The weeklong National Festival tagged “Our Royalty, Our Pride” held in the Benin City of Edo State from Saturday, 19th to Saturday, 26th October 2019.

Similarly, Ogun State also came fourth position in the Indigenous Fabrics in Royal Apparel, third positions in the Children Arts and Crafts Cultural Exhibition and Children’s Poetry competitions respectively.

In his closing remark, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki said the festival was a huge success, which had broaden the knowledge of all participants about the diverse cultures in the State and had also created an avenue to display such culture in the last seven days.

Represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, Obaseki urged everyone to take back to their various States, the knowledge acquired and improved more on it, to promote sustainable peace and unity, provide employment opportunities and improve the economic development of Nigeria.

While speaking with journalists, the Chairman House Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism in Ogun State, Hon. Yussuf Adejojo, commended Edo State Government for hosting the festival of unity.

He commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his kind gestures to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, saying his support made the State stand out among its contemporary.

Adejojo appreciated the Ministry for making the Gateway State proud, assuring it of the continued support of Governor Abiodun.

But in a press release made available on Sunday by the Press Officer, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Abimbola Otegbade, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Alhaja Selimot Ottun, thanked God for the success of the event and expressed her profound gratitude to Governor Abiodun for his moral and financial supports towards the festival and finally appreciated all the state’s contingents who had in one way or the other contributed immensely to the success, saying this has brought fame to the State and the Governor would be proud of this.

The Director of Culture in the Ministry, Mr. Oluwaseye Adeyemo, equally appreciated all participants who took part in the success of the festival in the State, urging them to continue with the spirit of oneness, which he said, is the secret behind the State’s successes.

The closing ceremony had the presentation of Awards and Certificates to all participating states and winners in various categories, a colourful display of diverse cultures from all states and performances from music artists and comedians
